Shamrock FC: Nemesis - Event Preview (Updated)

By Staff | Knuckle Junkies

After nearly two years away from action, one of the regions top strikers returns to the cage.

Kevin Engel will headline Shamrock Fighting Championships: Nemesis on Sept. 13 at the River City Casino.

Beginning in 2012, Engel jumped out to a 3-0 record, all finishes. A precise puncher, Engel has amassed a 20-10 record as a pro boxer with 16 KOs.

But the Hitman has been on the shelf since rupturing his right bicep.

James Warfield will welcome Engel back and brings a 22-11 record with him.

This will be Warfields, dubbed The Unbreakable Heavy Hitter", first fight since 2012 with a pro record of 22-11; fifteen of the victories come by the knockout.

The Wisconsin-based Warfield is looking to shake a three-fight losing streak. Among his notable bouts are losses to Seth Baczynski, Yves Edwards, and Joe Ellenburger.

For more on the main event, check out our interview with Kevin Engel where he discusses his boxing career, and his desire to compete in MMA.

The co-main event features Mike Brazzle (3-1) against King of the Cage and Bellator veteran Anthony Lemon (3-4). Brazzles last bout was in the summer of 2012. His only loss coming at the hands of Sal Woods in Brazzles pro debut.

Two of St. Louis top prospects will be making their debuts. Aaron Highfill will face Bryant West and Joaquin Buckley takes Wes Sullivan.

Highfill is a rising star with a 12-1 record on the eve of his pro debut. We spoke with him recently to discuss his career, why he got into fighting an a host of other topics including Saturday's opponent West.

"I don't know to much about about him." Highfill said. "I saw some of his stand-up, he seems like a power grappler. He fights hard for the takedown and goes right for the submission. We both fought the same guy, and both finished him quickly. I'm just preparing for whatever."

Check out the rest of the Highfill interview here.

Also making his pro debut, Ian Butler will mathchup with Corey Barreiro. We caught up with Ian after a local event, and this is what he had to say:

Malcolm Smith, who is coming off a loss to Javon Wright and stands 3-3, will face Adam Rider. Rider lost to current UFC featherweight Alex White in Jan. of 2014.
