Shamrock FC: Clash - Preview

By Brett Auten | Knuckle Junkies

Mr. Kansas City is back.

Shamrock FC returns to the Ameristar Casino in Kansas City on September 26 and headlining things is the town's favorite MMA son, Bobby Voelker.

Voelker will bring his 26-12 record and fireball brand of fighting against Mike Estes. Voelker has been there and done that in the sport, fighting for Strikeforce, the UFC, and all over the country during his 13 years in the sport. A winner of his last two, Voelker needed a a third round TKO in March to put away Justin Guthrie in a fight that could have went either way on the judges score cards.

Estus is 7-2 with all seven win coming by submission. The 2-time Bellator veteran is the owner of Estus Mixed Martial Arts in Iowa and the majority of his fights were part of the stalwart Iowa Challenge promotion in the northern part of the state.

One of St. Louis' most intriguing fighters will be in the co-main. Adam Meredith makes his first Shamrock FC MMA appearance when he takes on the undefeated Manny Meraz. Meraz is 6-0 and had a stellar 6-1 amateur run.

Meredith (3-1) is coming off a short notice fight against Quartus Stitt in May where he wasted little time dispatching Stitt with a rear naked choke. During the tail end of his amateur run, Meredith was considered one of the top talents in the region. His fight career since has been dotted with time off. Once "The Professor" turned pro, there was time away due to family, completing school and earning his Master's, and a new career. With that behind him, Meredith has been steely focused on training and conditioning for the bulk of 2015.

Jacob Akin, who has four of his six wins by submission, is coming off a loss to Kevin Croom at SFC: Shock in January. He takes on the "Armadillo" William Joplin a staple of the KC MMA circuit. Akin and Joplin faced each other almost a year ago and the result came down to a very controversial split decision went the way of Akin. There have been talks of a rematch every since.

Aaron Poston, a 6-3 lightweight, faces Christian Camp from nearby Springfield, MO. Camp, a tenacious grappler had a brilliant amateur career where he captured the Missouri State amateur title with a win over Buddy McGinnis.

SFC veteran Eric Crittendon is coming off solid wins over Marc Goedeker and Tom Baker and will face a yet to be announced opponent.
