Rumble Time: Seasons Beatings - Preview

By Matt Frazier | Knuckle Junkies

Steve Smith and Blake Fisher have an early Christmas present for local fight fans with a solid night of fights on Saturday, December 20th at the Casa Loma Ball Room on Cherokee Street in South City.

The event will feature two of the area's fastest rising stars, and a heavyweight with a very bright future.

Saturday's event will close out a very busy 2014 for Rumble Time Promotions that has seen the company host an event almost every month of the year.

Local heavyweight Tex Trismegistus from Too Good Boxing will look to stay unbeaten when he steps into the ring against Charles Ellis in the evening's main event.

Trismegistus (9-0) is coming off the biggest win of his career after defeating Richard Carmack (12-4) by TKO in the third round of their fight. The hard punching Trismegistus from North County has 9 wins in his pro career, with 4 KO's, and looks to have a very promising career in a division that is relatively thin with top contenders.

Ellis out of Wichita, KS has faced some stiff competition while posting a record of 9-2-1 with 8 KO's. This will be a great test for Trismegistus who continues to climb in the heavyweight rankings.

In a rematch from September, two speedy bantamweights will battle when Kendrick Latchman gets another shot at the undefeated Stephon Young (10-0-1). Latchman used his speed to stay out of the range of Young, but ultimately lost a unanimous decision.

"Kendrick mocked Stephon in their last fight." Smith said. "Stephon is now training with local legend and former champ Harold Petty. He is now sitting down on his punches and is planning on stopping him in the fight."

Young has 4 KO's to his credit.

"Stephon is a decorated world amateur champion," Smith said. "He has been featured on ESPN Friday Night Fights and will be on Showtime in March."

Featherweight Sharon Carter impressed many with a first round TKO of Billy Stimmel in his professional debut. He will take on Isaac Badger on Saturday.

"Sharon carter is St Louis' version Of Floyd Mayweather." Smith said. "Flashy, inside and out the ring, fast as lightning. He says he can turn off his light in his room and be in bed before the room is dark."

Undefeated Derrick Murray will take on Javier Montoya in a battle of two featherweight prospects. Murray has received high praise from Smith.

"Derrick Murray is like the Matrix," Smith said. You can't hit him but he hits you from the most awkward angles. He's one of the most talented boxers I have seen in years. He will be a world champion if he stays focused."

The event will also featured an under card of amateur boxing and K1.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 314-662-2000 or from Metrotix.com
