Ricehouse ready for Strikeforce Challenge

By Brett Auten | Knuckle Junkies

Stoic, humble, focused.

Tempered, direct, lethal.

Strikeforce lightweight Matt Ricehouse is these and more.

The St. Charles MMA/Team Vaghi fighter prefers to let his hands do the talking. And his feet, and his knees, and his elbows.

A jiu-jitsu wizard with a granite chin. As much a cerebral practitioner of mixed martial arts as he is a blood and guts brawler.

However you want to dance, Matt Ricehouse can play your tune.

The undefeated Ricehouse (6-0) steps back into the Strikeforce cage when he takes on Bobby "King" Green on Saturday in San Diego, CA. Ricehouse vs Green will be part of the undercard of an event headlined by Ronda Rousey and Sarah Kaufman.

Both Ricehouse and Green have had roughly three weeks to prepare for each other. Ricehouse will be coming off the longest layoff of his professional career having last fought in November of 2011. Ricehouse is 4-0 in Strikeforce with his most recent wins coming over top-shelf, global BJJ player Bill Cooper and Strikeforce darling Ryan Couture.

Green (18-5) is riding a three fight win streak which includes wins over James Reese, James Terry, and Charon Spain.

A professional MMA competitor since 2008, Green has made a name for himself mainly fighting on the West coast. King was the reigning lightweight champion for King of the Cage. Green has made one appearance on the MTV/MTV2 reality show Bully Beatdown. In May, Green faced James Terry at Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Cormier where he won via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28).
